The Man
I saw the door shut in the face of a man
A man whom I had not seen before
I quickly ran to the window and stole a glance at his face
His face was rough,
and he had a scar on his left cheek,
yet somehow I knew he meant us no harm
When I looked at his eyes,
I remembered sleeping on my mothers chest,
her breath slowly lifting me up,
then bringing me down,
the reassuring stroke of her hands through my hair
As the man started to turn away I heard a moan,
and my Mom collapsed at the door,
tears splattered to the floor as her body lie there,
her legs bore no wounds,
yet I knew she could not stand
In the distance I heard a low rumbling,
the man had started his car,
the man who would scare some but had comforted me,
the man who had effortlessly reduced my mom to tears
As I heard his wheels crunching on the gravel,
I realized who he was,
he was the man who had brought me into this world,
and on that day he was the reason I took myself out of it

I can relate, definitely. That's all I can say without breaking through my emotional firewall. Good Job!!!

This is a beautiful write, but also has alot of sadness to it. It breaks my heart, how the ending relayed itself. You did a wonderful job on the imagery, you could see everything in your head, like a movie unfolding before your eyes. This is a wonderful piece of work!
