Shadows in the Twilight

Our shadows are trimmed with lace
the beauty of who we used to be
the exhilaration of the slowest race
the dance of thoughts as you lead me
the soft meadows of our feet echo through my empty mind
the fading song forfeits to a grateful silence
as our hearts follow, leaving a melody behind
the syncopation of our footsteps are in line with desire,
unaware of the stable ground, i look towards the sky
your eyes remain in focus, determined to inspire
but i was too captivated in the facets of a lie
our shadows are dazzled with rubies
the symbolism of blood's perfection
your eyes are emerald with desperation
envious of permitted affection
raise your eyes to meet mine
notice that i crave a sense of fatality
i want to see your body shine
your presence is a prized vitality
the sharpness of pain cannot scar,
the vivid enhancement of who we are
when your fingers chill the color of my skin
the lullaby of your whisper chills me within
the touch of your voice
accelerates my heart
i hear it calling me
although we are apart
you said it would be as if you never existed
but when you tried to hide the memories, my mind continously resisted
you told me i would be better off without you
yet i'm dying slowly just thinking about you
you have the power to save me
the ability to conquer death
let the venom flow through me
the elixir of endless breath

    A beautiful write. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but this really reminds me of a scene from a book called New Moon where a vampire leaves the human girl he loves. I really enjoyed reading this, it was so full of raw emotion and colour. I love the last line! Thank you for entering the contest
