Autumn Leaves

Autumn leaves
Like his soul; so old
Frozen smiles
Turning down, I’m told
I sit there crying
As I see them in the cold
Like these autumn leaves I don’t have nothing to hold

Handsome smile
His time is through
Too young to say
But I swear he knew
We sit there crying
And he lies down in the cold
Like these autumn leaves
We have nothing to hold

Autumn leaves
Have to stop to fight
In the cold
They have to stay so bright
Though it’s not fair;
And though it’s not right
These autumn leaves, are yours tonight

Please tell me what you think!!

    well done

This poem has the elements that I've seen a young poet struggle with many years ago. Not only have you over come them, you've overcome them in style.

    I applaud your growth...as a poet and a person.

    GUH!

"I can't write anything," she said. See, I knew you could/can write. This is beautiful Claire, and I know you have to have written it this evening. I've read it about 10 times and it's so thoughtful and cleverly descriptive. And, sitting here thinking, I could pick out a couple of meanings for it. Good job - don't wait so long to write the next one.
