When the Last Teardrop Falls

When there's no songs left to sing
and teardrops cease to fall
that's when I'll come running back
or play the fool and call.

There was a time you loved me
at least it seemed that way
but lyin' eyes and a cheatin' heart
turned my blue sky's grey.

You walked across my heart
into someone elses arms
another willing soul
falling victim to your charms.

Meanwhile on this bar stool
in a sorry state of mind
my hand around a bottle
and lonesome all the time.

The mem'ries of you haunt me
like a reoccuring dream
quietly adrift
in a gentle mountain stream.

I'm begging of you please
and forgiving you your sins
release the chains that bind me
and let me live again.

This is such a sad poem. Boy, i hate people who do that sort of thing. Your words in this piece really reached out to me. I hope that didn't happen to you for real and was just for the contest. I love the flow, rhythm and rhyme. All were just perfect and your imagery created through your words, just sensational. Take care, mate.

You certainly can write the blues, this one should be spinning on a juke box somewhere on the dark end of the street, where it could give voice to those broken hearted ones who cant talk about it. Good stuff!

Very good David, reminds me of the theme of an old song "Please Release Me" sung by Englebert Humperdink.
But you have reset the scene and your poem has more feeling in it. Well done, my friend.
