And forgetting the injustices held in the gray skies above
A copper silhouette dances alone to her unheard waltz
Unhindered by the justified cynicism that echoes these streets
The dance continues on
Because ignorance is bliss.
Eyes locked shut and head held high
Barely conscious of yesterdays failure
Completely oblivious to todays terror
And less than concerned about tomorrows tragedy
The dance continues on
Because ignorance is bliss.
The world hides
And accepts its humiliation in the face of such subtle defiance
Atrocity loses its power and purpose,
Negativity falls into obscurity
And the dance never stops.
Because ignorance is bliss.
Author notes
Yay, something new. I don't know how complete I feel this piece is, but as it stands now I'm honestly pretty happy with it. It's...charming. This piece was basically written to beg the question: How many of the bad things in the world that thrive on fear and negativity could we completely eliminate by simply ignoring them?
With a lot of my stuff, I go pick out a few words and build everything based on my initial response to those words. This time, I had someone else pick the words for me. The words were 'Chocolate,' 'red,' and 'boat.' Hehehe, as always, constructive feedback is appreciated.

I really like this poem, although there's just one line I don't understand--"a copper silhouette dances to her unheard waltz".
Anyways, beautifully written, I love the way you describe impassivity in this poem, how people just stop caring. The repitition at the end of each stanza is effective.
