Many reasons to give thanks this day,
for good friends who pass our way.
They touch our lives and stay a while,
help us walk the long tough miles.
Our family surrounds us as we pray,
upon this blessed Thanksgiving Day.
It is not the food or the apple cider,
it's seeing grammy, sitting beside her.
Family traditions, dad's carving knife,
on the TV, "It's A Wonderful Life".
All gathered around a table of love,
give thanks for bounty to God above.
All these reasons mean the most,
to family and friends I say a toast.
May we be blessed every day,
love one another come what may,

Beautiful...I think the same way, it's not about the food, but who is still with us to celebrate times such as this...blessings and congrats, and thank you for the award in your contest...I am humbled, I had just realized I should have had a poem for our troops as much as I am concerned that they are there. Bless you always.

Nice write with all the Thanksgiving spirit.
Love the rhyme here, always makes a poem more interesting when the rhyming is atypical.
It is not the food or the apple cider,
it's seeing grammy, sitting beside her.

Thanks giving is not something we over in the UK celebrate Though it does have the Christmas feel about it so i suppose the two could be looked on in the same way.You have express how these times can bring family and friends together Excellent Good luck in the contest

Thank You My Friend
Yes I think the celebration of generations of family gathered around the table feasting on yummy food is alot like Christmas dinner too.
I usually have turkey on Christmas too. Well maybe 2 turkeys if you count my crazy brother in law.
Never made the famous Christmas Goose.
Thank you fore reading. Take care.
Smiles, Sandy
