Imprisoned
behind iron palisades,
awaiting rescue,
enduring stone walls' mockery;
strong,
like she'll never be.
longing to pluck the flowers
whose crimson petals wilt
at her ugliness;
tears feed ungrateful blooms
until stoic stems crumble
to dust.
