Fortress

Where is the might of God,

in a dark void of hate;

we pull apart simplicity

eyes that separate.

Walls are built on pride,

stones of ignorance;

silent tears transform

torment to vengeance.

Who among us will cast,

another bloody stone;

building upon the fortress

human hate has grown.

    only when the walls of pride come down will there be no more stones cast. Sadly though, a bit of narcissism plagues us all and only in death pride can be defeated

    A might fortress,
    but not impervious
    to hope and love,
    kindness and genrosity
    seeping in between the cracks...

    Interesting question... While I, personally, am agnostic and am not bound by one religion, I can understand why things like evil and hatred would make you question your faith. However, I'm sure that your god will make his presence known to you when the time is right. Well done, and thanks for entering.

    I got this one!

    Very true for the times. I assure you the might of God is at work...but only where He is asked to be.
    The part,"silent tears transform torment to vengeance" is happening on the job and in the public schools. Very well done!!!

    Wonderful work, dear. Reminded me of a poem I recently discovered by

    "Seek patience
    and passion
    in equal amounts.

    Patience alone
    will not build the temple.

    Passion alone
    will destroy its walls."

    Yes! So well written and stated. Loved the second stanza especially. I loved the title also. Another good one that is truthful also.

    Great questions

    And who will stand exposed
    letting the stones pass,
    knowing we are made of Love
    and not ego's fragile glass....

    God's might lies in loving forgiveness. Hate dissolves in the Light of Love.

    Well done my friend. Be ever blessed and bright.

    WOW

    The intensity in these words make the dark subject feel darker, yet the question left unanswered makes it also very thought provoking. I LOVE THIS turn you took in your writing, it's an amazing write, and your rhyming and flow like always is impeccable!
