Love Will Win the Day

Oh wicked years
the hands of time
have stolen all that was sublime
and left me here
with this empty shell
and a pathway pointing
straight to Hell!

Oh woe is me
I am undone
Life's victories have not been won
I pray for even
one more day
to strive to find
another way.

Take this cup of death from me
God give me eyes
that I might see
And let love once more
win the prize
and from these ashes
let me rise!

One day when
once again I'm strong
I'll lift my voice in joyous song
And thank the one
who lives inside
Where love and peace
do both abide!

Always look forward to the day the fight is won. Great piece! Things seem hard at times, but giving up never solves anything. God will always pull us through. I really enjoyed this one.

I like your poem. A beautiful display of the reality of life. darkness and yet there is always hope. I loved the last part.
