no more dawn

i wear this veil over my eyes
so you can't see me seeing you.
such a silly place to hide,
but what do you know of eternal darkness?
    the roosters never crow
      to wake my mourn,
i've forgotten the feel of the sun on my hands
  and the mirrored pools
    where i found myself.

it's never enough to greet the day
  with half asleep memories
of tormented awakenings.
i'm not scared of the dark
but of the things i don't see
      in the pitch black silence.
is that where you're hiding?
                (olly olly oxenfree)
