As I turned the key
to open a doorway to the future,
petals of silence from forgotten flowers
crumbled in ashes around my heart.
Feelings and words from yesterday
forever lost in the past,
or so I thought,
still remained frozen in time,
in my heart.
Like an ancient painting
with colors slashed on blank canvas
the original had faded,
but the imprint still left stains
that had bled into my soul.
Our heartfelt love was so full
of brilliant hues,
that the intensity of emotion
will always leave its mark.
But reminiscing only blinds the future,
so I closed the door behind me
shutting out the husky voices,
broken in pain and regrets.
The aftermath
darkens the circle of light before me,
as I stand in the shadows
of a world that blended time,
swirling it around me
as it connected past, present and future,
enveloping me in a complete circle
from which I could see
no escape.

I jotted down the options - somehow, when I finished writing I realized I had incorporated most of them into my write!.....lolol
