you took my arteries, hope
you took them out
and wrapped them around your neck
like a broken locket
I hung there on your chest
your rib cage, a cell
where other victims lay
as bronchitis in your lungs
I breathed empty air
but
you needed
a soul
and I know how to be anyone
but myself
were perfect;
like life, death and the confusion in between
