I sit by your side
As we wait to hear the news.
That pain in your leg
That just appeared out of the blue.
Was more than anything
You would ever assume.
It was a warning to you
And we soon found out
That pain in your leg
was were the cancer cells grew.
So I held you tight
As we sat there and cried.
For soon you would have to fight
for your life and survive.
The treatments were rough.
And all I could think
Was "you are so strong".
For you kept your spirits high
And still found ways to make me laugh
Even on days that were very tough.
Several times you scared me to death
As the doctors told us
We better start praying.
As I heard these words
I collapsed on the floor.
The thought of life without you
Was unimaginable!
So I stayed by your bed
For days on end.
Praying every minute for you to awake.
Like every time before
You amazed us again.
For you fought for your life
And survived against the odds.
Little did we know
That wouldn't be the last.
As we found out two years later
You would have to start again
With this fight that almost killed you
Several times before.
This time was more difficult
But just like before
You showed me your strengths
And made it through.
I still pray everyday
That I will never have to see
My strong little girl
Go through that hell again.
You remind me that life
Is what you make of it,
In good times and bad.
For you took these times,
However rough they may be,
And instead of finding the bad
You only saw the good.
By watching you fight
And never giving up,
You helped me gain strength
So I could be there for you.
I love you with all of my heart
And you will never cease to amaze me!

My family is going through this with my sister inlaw and it is so hard yet we all are there for her and to bring her laughter and love .God bless you all and keep you safe and my prayers will be with you everyday

It helped me out a lot to have family and friends there to help me through everything and I owe most of my strength to them and little did I know that the strength they were giving me I was also giving to them.
I hope everything goes well for your sister in-law and I will keep that in my thoughts and prayers.

I love this! how you wrote this from your mums prspective just amazes me. You should be very proud of yourself to get you through such horrid painful times and you sound lucky to have such a caring family and friends. I really liked this and I am amazed at how much poems I am getting in this contest that are so emotional and loving. keep up the good writing and bless be x
