Lost

Held back by chains

relentless hands

evil hearts and sick minds

I always dreamed of experiencing life

beyond these four walls

darkness has consumed me

made me fearful and naive

leaving me lost in a world

of uncertainty and void

for many years

I've heard beautiful stories

of the outside world

my heart yearned

endlessly for freedom

everyday I feared the worst

wondering what I missed

who I could have been

where I could be today

I feel so lost in this world

i am still waiting for myself to gather the needed courage to do the things i have to and escape my self made prison. this poem, i can relate to, being a kind of recluse that i am. keep it flowing and good luck in the contest

it could reach beyond to really grab the reader and pull them into that darkness ....make them really feel it....

This is a very narrative piece that perhaps could benefit from a little more showing rather than telling, in all a good piece that could be better, you have time for edits
