Sometimes
a prayer escapes us
without meek faith, bold fury
or any sense of insistence
but with watchful eyes
to smile upon our eager steps
and strong arms near us,
to shelter the weakest moment.
Hard upon a rush of time,
we do not know the answers
and can barely fathom the end of the string,
the convolution of mystery seems far beyond.
But in a moment we may travel from
the edge of doubt to the center of trust
to see our own frightened eyes,
and leave a blessing as an Angel might
or have already done for us.

Sigh~
This is beautiful and truly touched me, like the song does every time I hear it...
I knew that you would be inspired. It was funny. As soon as I posted it, I got a feeling that you would. This poem is proof that you were ...Amazing as always. I have bookmarked this one in my favorites...

A lovely read from beginning to end. Nice imagery and flow . Being a firm believer in the power of prayer I also know how my own mind wanders off when I am in prayer. I eventually get back on track and finish the prayer.

A delight to read.

I loved this idea of an escaping prayer as our subconscious reaches for what we need. Each of us releases little wishes and hopes all day long. Sometimes just feeling that our prayers are being heard makes all the difference. You continually explore new ideas with your poems, and that combined with your gift of language, makes them something special to read. Good luck in this contest. Peace, Liz

So true, sometimes we get so caught up in trivial we ignore what we have or could have, if we only believed. Very beautiful.

Your poem reads as a prayer itself. The last stanza is so true, what wonderful thoughts you show there.
Very well done
