she works at the bookstore
and to everyone she chats and smiles
but as each customer leaves
they forget about her
couldn't really care about her
she's not really part of their life
and this girl she dosn't care
just keeps on serving all
and when the store closes
at half past five
she locks all the doors
and wanders the shelves
picking up book after book
reading parts of each
but keeps moving among the stories
till she finds her favorite
an old battered hardcover
thats been there for years
she sits on the floor finds her page and reads
a tale of love and conquest
times gone and to come
she may be young and not so outgoing
but the smile that lights up her eyes
as she flicks from page to page
and the gentle laugh
as she reads a joke that she has read
a thousand times before
is pure beauty written on no page
and it is one that no man can ignore
and if one day one was to watch her for a while
i think in an instant
that they will fall in love...
