wild and overgrown

I was the wild and you were my trapper,
You caught me, you took me, possessed me.
While you tried to tame me, break me.
I stared into the woods, the space
You held me back from that thrill,
I wanted to discover, create,
Live my life,
I thought of jumping that fence,
Running until my knees broke through,
But you built a house inside my heart,
Too quickly, and you added as time passed,
Clamed me with every piece you nailed.

The house stood still,
Through every hail and thunderstorm.
It never budged,
But that sloppy job you did,
It was bound to fail sometime.
I pushed you to your limit,
And you up and left one day,
To build a new house, in someone else.
This time you used what you learned,
She was wild as me, but you built slowly.

You left me, all alone,
With all your things, and memories,
And expected me to try to sell them,
Time caused that house to collapse,
Nail by nail it fell,
What a quick and sloppy job,
But that space, that empty lot,
Is there, begging for some new,
Overgrowing with weeds, and moss,
The vines tied the memories to my bones.
Haunting the passerby with stories,
Your spirit shooing them away,
Claiming me in your absence.

But I’ll find someone,
To wreck that lot, and build anew
Slowly, Over time,
Your vines will shrivel and die,
Lacking the memory water, that nurtured
They’ll build a new house, with oak,
And give the pieces to me, to hold.
We’ll add them on together,
And maybe this time,
The wood wont rust.
