Conscience bores through resolution,
and nagging tapping wakes the soul.
Although you acted with good reason
your anima must take control.
Two wrongs, a right will never make,
for black is black and white is white,
and evil is as evil does,
so shed the shroud and find the light.
Vengeance belongs to God not man,
and now it's time to stop and think,
so avid is the abyss,
why are you standing on the brink?
So listen to that whisper
as it drills into your mind,
and keep the flame of charity
forever there enshrined.

The dual image as a conscience tapping and drilling is provocative and interesting. Your poetry always contains allusions that prompt the reader to see beyond mere words. I loved the phrase, "so avid is the abyss". Thank you for your entry. Peace, Liz

Top shelf wordsmithery!
so avid is the abyss,
why are you standing on the brink?
old habits are hard to break.... -
Excellent
Pro-Poetry, as always from you.

Good total package of image, background, text color and exemplary versed composition.Your take on the image prompt is deeply complex and captivates the mind of the reader. And great truth in no one's ability to maintain a foothold between two opposing paths. Not to mention the damage sustained to others and self in dark intent and thoughts.

Nice Di
Anything going on?
Changing careers again?
Everything OK?
My Island girl who would thee teach
I don’t know now why I must preach
I seen your talents from afar
I’ve also seen how you do scar
I see your sixties face and hair
Leaves me to wonder how you fair
I see you as a college prof
So beautiful but not too soft
Curator of antiquities
Egyptian ethnicities
Instructor advanced poetry
Or advanced archaeometry
But by and far I’d want for you
Bright skies above and oceans blue
Great sandy shores and snow white beach
And happiness within your reach
There also is that red pinot
With lobster, crab and shrimp although
Just one more thing you must rely
That is of course your Island Guy
Love
Jim
