To find a perfect partner, you must first look within.
I’ve taken that first step, much to my chagrin.
I listed all my positives but then I had to halt.
The list was so much shorter than the one with my faults.
I tried to figure out what I sought, with some confusion.
After adding and deleting, I came to this conclusion:
the only way to find the promised “happily ever after”
is to share your life with someone who knows the art of laughter.
Looks are just a passing thing and they will surely fade.
Interests change over time so they won’t make the grade.
Goals in life are great until they’re blinded by ambition.
Compatibility in bed plays a part, by definition.
So make your list, seek perfection and, after a while,
you’ll find your heart is taken by the one that makes you smile.
When you find joy and laughter every day “just because”
you’ll discover that perfection doesn’t mean without flaws.

Great piece! It made me giggle, but it also has a rather deep message too. Not judging people by the superficial qualities is an important lesson for us all. It's easy to miss out on something or someone special if you dont look behind the casing!

You are a wise man. We can never define a partner that will show up in real life just as we specified. You have a grasp on life's reality - we just "find" that someone when the time is right. I really enjoyed this poem.
