I wish for this year soon to end, it has not been much of a friend,
my nights have been sleepless and long, my voice is now bereft of song.
Sore eyes from tears that I have shed, my body numb and feeling dead,
no life is left within this heart, too difficult to make a start.
The weather wears a face so sad, think back to summer sun not had,
tired face sits staring at the screen, I feel like some wornout hasbeen.
My dog looks to me in despair, her eyes tell me 'it's just not fair',
I sigh as I tap out a rhyme, forgetting all about the time.
Long hours pass this rain won't stop, tired eyelids try to fight the drop,
but thoughts of past months still invade, slice through my mind a well honed blade.
Tomorrow will be laid to rest, a sadness weighs down on my chest,
I wish for this year just to end, it has not been much of a friend.

This is not just a poem, this is your heart and soul you are pouring out here Hilly. It is a good write but what can anyone say about something so personal?

Time seems to be the fair-weather friend most of us share. This is a poignant piece of poetry, Hilly. Just
know that when you are 'here' you are surrounded by
friends who love you, come rain or shine.
Love, Lane

A very honest and painful write expressing the way you feel at the moment, but look on it as just the end of a chapter in the story of your life and tomorrow a new one will begin.
Much love to you,
Your friend always
