    I have noticed years ago,

there is always so much more then meets the eyes

    behind closed doors.

it seems everyone covers it up with what is "normal"

    a universal poem

    Very true to life

I am sure you heard this before

truly so much with so few

    very well said

    God bless you my friend...

  • Oh wow. I really like this. This is so powerful to be so short. You did a wonderful job on this. Congrats on HM and thanks for sharing this here. Keep the ink flowing.

  • wow
what can i say, this may be one of the most evoccative things of yours i have read, and i identify so much, i create a sort of unreal perfection for my kids, its my band aid for the past, if the socks are paired and school shirts presed and if theres a hot meal, a bubble bath and clean sheets, then some how the past cant catch me, bizzare but it works
this gem puts it in perspective
    thanks for sharing T

You got it down pat in this piece, Patty. There are so many families hiding the reality of what is real because there seems to be a stigma on letting people know you are in trouble. I know when I was a kid, we didn't report abuse because kids were never believed. Your piece says so much and with so little words. I am betting most people can see behind this facade. Congrats on your honourable win.

I have so many stars on my tree for loved ones now gone. It's really sad. My son who died was born on 24th Dec so I know what you mean.
Christams and what it means has been lost somewhere in man's stupidity. very powerful words my friend. . BTW how long has it been now since I introduced you to this site. LOL You are such a live member here it seems like you were always around.

    Lol

Against the back drop of such a lovely picture
    ' A seemingly perfect picture
    belies pain and chaos

    Real life'

Does magnify 'the beauty of the picture' blending it to life's reality.
In short Pain and chaos (which are everywhere) truly make us enjoy the joys as and when they come.

In so few words you have made people realise that not everyone comes from a perfect home, despite appearances. Very well done.

    Blown away

These few words just blew my mind. This sums up life very well. We strive all of our lives to be someone we can never be, until we realize too late, that we should have been ourselves a long time ago, and we strive to have what the Jones's have, only to find out we are knee deep in debt. This is very well written, and I also see an apology here too.

Sorry its so dark, but this was my life.

Patty, never apologize for anything that you write about your feelings and emotions. If your feeling and emotions are dark, write them that way. If your feelings and emotions are light and happy, write them that way; but never apologize, because there is nothing to apologize for.

Stay strong girl, because it is in our strength that we can heal.

    Love & hugs,
    Barbara

We often try to obtain what others have, we percieve with our eyes, and when we do we realize all is the same beneath the images.
    very deep truth
    God bless you my friend...

a powerful write with 10 words saying so much, and the picture you have with it a perfect accompanyment. I can relate as in my life on all outside appearances all seemed perfect and no one could/would have ever guessed what was really going on. good luck in the contest my dear, and sending loving thoughts and positive energy your way.
