Rumors

Rumors,
spread like fire
giving no chance to explain.

Lies hail with a wide grin
reveling in pleasure.

It burns all truth
leaving behind…

footprints of disgrace.

A clouded life shrouded.

In the mists of shame and anger,

a distressed heart is unable to...

break free,

breathe,

or find solace.

Eyes have no rest from pain.

Rumors…

When will it end?

When will lies cease to exist?

When will truth show itself and crush these rumors?

Nice flow, easy to read. Really good message. The first verse is great and the ending is one question we will never know the answer to. Good Write!
    Thanks for sharing

Good thoughtful discussion on the subject of rumours and the destructive path they manifest. Good probing questions in the conclusion of this poem. Well Done! Write on dear poet.

"Lies hail with a wide grin" and gossip is sooooo much fun! Superb piece on the distructive damage a misspent comment can do to anther. A complete poem, and finished thought, the mark of a true poet!

Straight and sweet, to the point, but still retaining the poetic qualities conveyed through imagery. Good job. It's refreshing to read a poem that is not so drowned with convoluted metaphor (though I love them) that the meaning is lost entirely. I especially liked:

    Good job, promising poet.

An honest write that most will identify with... either as recipient or instigator... Like fire, they spread uncontrolled and destroy whatever's in their path... Well done and best of luck.
