The birds and the cats
and the Possums and Skunks
Decided to go to Andy's
And create warm fuzzy bunks
Word had gotten round
That Andy's Place really rocked
So one by one came all
And like Noah's Ark they flocked
A big white rabbit spoke up
Cats certainly can be pests
So the cats changed sneaky ways
Not sneaking eggs from bird nests
The skunks raised a stink
Possums didn't play possum
So Andy got Wildlife traps
Then the skunks felt really bummed
The birds sang a jubilee
Possums and skunks left the scene
And no longer feast on bird's seed
So Andy's feathered friends sing
Author notes
This is a true poetic story. Andy buys big bags of bird seed for visiting birds. My brother is going to have repairs underneath house. So, he had to get traps from Wildlife Reserve to have possums and skunks returned to the wild. Otherwise, would have been crowded underneath house with skunks and possums bunking underneath there when work done. A worker could have gotten sprayed even by resident skunks bunking underneath the house.

We also feed our wild birds but don't have a problem with skunks or opossums though we do get rats and mice from time to time. We have rabbits and squirrels. My dog and cats keep them away pretty well though. Thanks for this colorful entry.
