Drooping limbs a silent drape
point to the sobbing sounds
no human ears can hear,
moaned from hearts in deepest ache,
whose bodies are now entombed
in everlasting earthen sleep.
Souls hovering over their immortal fate,
murmur their constant regrets,
a monologue dredge from pains of recollection
over squandered lives
that were spent valuing gold more than hearts,
dwelling now in constant agony
their plots never visited,
their guilt absorbed into the morning fog,
adding to its icy feel.
Each new funeral procession
watched by departed
who see the presence of mourners
as another testimony to their wasted hours.
How their try in such futile ways
to utter their sadness to the living
it is never detected by those they see,
being a song of everlasting lament
only the willow knows.

Reading this... Wow.
My fiance is buried under a willow tree, hence why I picked the picture for the contest, and this was fun to read. Interesting. Great way to pain a picture in the mind.
Thanks for entering.

Wow...bravo definately fits the picture, and to realize life is short in the process...I hope you win the contest, at least from my point of view, I often strole the cemetary where my father is laid at and it has nature and an old small church from the 1800's, big clean place though but have had visual moments too...blessings

The weeping willow always makes me feel sad yet i am compelled by them to enjoy the beauty of those draping branches. This same feeling is what I get from these lines a depth of sorrow yet a living thing....as you say in the ending 'only the willow knows' You flow with emotions that portray the loneliness of the surroundings in the picture prompt. Nicely constructed. Good luck in the contest. Thank you for the pleasure of this write.
