Memories

Words on a page
Are just that
Random thoughts
Of another time
One's persons wisdom
Another mans lesson
In life and love
Of hatred and scorn
A memory
To hold
Smile

  • I agree entirely. We can write things in the heat of the moment and then look back on them remembeing how we felt at that time but all they are now are memories. An excellent piece of work. Flowed well from start to finish and gives the reader a lot to think about.

You're right : the words are just the mood of a moment captured forever on paper. They may convey "hatred and scorn" or "love" but they are part of one's personal history even if they are relevant only momentarily to the poet's mood at the time of writing.

I like this poem a lot. It makes me think of when i find some bit of folded paper, and the memories and secrets hidden inside.

You know where this is taking me the memories of the smile. Could be read on many levels but words remain on the page and my thoughts are my own. We all hold those dear to our hearts and memories keep them safe with no fear of fading. How time and tide turn. Nicely penned with a lesson for living. The title brings forth fondness and loving thoughts which is what I hold as I leave.....smile..yeah i know it confuses people.
