Santa's Short Delay

Missing image

The stockings all were hung

The children’s eyes closed tight

Anticipating jingle bells

‘T was the middle of the night

But where oh where is Santa

He perhaps got lost?

Or else he’d surely be here

His mission flying at all cost

The truth of the matter is

Santa has other interests in mind

As he parks his Christmas sleigh

And Prancer seems to think in kind

Those naughty little children

On their best behavior for the night

Can just wait for Santa awhile

Before he takes off on his flight

The other reindeer politely

Chose to be ever so discreet

As Prancer primped and wiggled

Right up to Santa’s feet

This was more than Santa expected

More than he’d bargained for

More than he could handle

He couldn’t take it anymore

So he whacked Prancer a good one

Which of course pleased this reindeer

And started Santa thinking

How enticing he looked from the rear

This I can't resist thought Santa

As they started with their fun

Just so I get back to Mrs Santa

Before the horizon meets the sun

Cute write! I love it and the picture. That sure does explain Santa's delay. I love this part.

LMAO!!! You did a great job with this contest prompt. At least poor ole Rudolph got some rest from all the abuse. Good luck...

Now wait a minute! When I write weird, sicko stuff they all say I am crazy and avoid me like the plague, this is so unfair!

But I do wish I'd written this...it is definitely something that belongs in my "shocking tales of horror!" folder!

I know I am weird, but this is right up my alley...probably because the reader doesn't expect it, would never assume that it is coming...I know what I am getting Santa and Prancer...some rubber and leather clothing...and a few shocking items of horror for their playtime! I wonder if the santa emoticons work? I forget what the other one was. *xmas* maybe? We'll see.

    100th Hoodwink

I see Santa is being more naughty than nice this year. The prompt picture is...interesting to say the least. It is amusing that Prancer was the special chosen one.

    100th Hood-Wink!

this is a hilarious poem - a little on the naughty side - but so good it makes me rethink putting brandy out for him this year! I wish you the best in the contest with this entry - smoothly done!

    Keep writing

This is what happens when Santa goes out for a run in the dark of night. While Mrs Claus sits home waiting for his return and we all thought he was smiling because of all those drinks and treats all the children left out for him ..... oh Santa you been a bad bad boy you need a spanking? Great take on the prompt. The flow eases from the page....so many funny entries A pleasure to read. Good Luck.
