it kills me to leave you
outside; so cold
ragged clothes
may i spare you some
change
nothing in this world
can change who you are
but who you've become
you chose to sit outside
so cold instead of living
in a house so warm
you chose to run away
where no family can find you
you chose to be alone
but companions pass by
you, as you lay there
with your cardboard box at
you side
it kills me to see you
in pain, with sadness in
you eyes, you could hardly breathe
but it kills me more to think
what you have gotten through in life
