Wizened crones cry Doomsday,
preachers get ready for Jesus' return.
Scientists look to the sky for signs
among the stars and planets and galaxies.
Will this be the death day of a president
who made history and cried for change?
Will the world erupt in racial violence,
or perhaps the eastern terrorists will choose
then to loose holocaust on the land.
We are but transient passengers on this ship
that whirls, troubled, through serene space.
Nothing lasts forever. . . change comes.
Could an obliterating comet twirl its
icy fingers in our hair and kill all life again?
Could some mad planet lose its trajectory
and plummet into the death of the universe?
Or could it be that some people need a doomsday
to round out the corners of their life. . .
What wise man will concede this disaster?
Are we not more than primates, do we not think?
What fear causes some to huddle neath the earth,
waiting for the blow that may not come?
Every day the world changes from the world "we know",
cycles and seasons must run their own course.
Perhaps I will choose to believe that 2012 will be
the day when we will look toward the skies and
know we are not alone.

There's nothing surer than that change will come--nothing stays the same forever. A perceptive and intelligent write which takes a balanced and sane stance on the 2012 "issue."
Good one,
Bill

Yes! This is what Im looking for....this is an amazing piece. Taking a look at the many sides of this theory. Change always comes, yes. Is it a desperate cry or a reality. Is it death or rebirth.
Very well done!
Thank you for entering and good luck!
