Why does it have to be like this?
All I ever wanted was to know you care,
to know that no matter what,
you'd always be there.
All I ever needed was to know you love me,
to know that you'd try your damnest, I
didn't expect you to give up everything.
Sometimes I'd be left worrying,
I'd lay crying alone at night
'cause the only mother I ever known
seemed to always put up a fight.
Through the years all I ever heard
from you were excuses and lies,
the games you've played left
me with scars I've learned to hide.
I've grown to be confused
by the mother who bore me,
what makes a mother a mother when
you change the subject instead of listening?
We all know it don't have to be like this...

i think this is very powerfull. i love the strength of the last line mimicing a common line that people say about things such as bullying or child abuse.
thanks for entering and good luck!

Great write. It is confusing when the ones who are there to help us always seem to never wanna talk about it. Tho some try to talk about something to have us forget the pain, it doesnt help the issue, just puts the pain aside to be reawakened
