I don’t need you, I want you.
My selfishness needs you, maybe,
In one of those wet dreams.
Like eggs need water to boil;
when water evaporates, eggs
explode. Those needy eggs,
that’s not me.
I don’t need you, I want you—
around sometimes, or
maybe, in time (less).
You’ve been around for
quite a while now, perhaps
you indulge in consistencies;
spreads like a nasty rash for some,
but bitterness is an ointment.
Don’t mistake my beating heart
for a victim outside your door,
pleading to get inside;
help, fire, save me please.
No that’s not me.
I told you, I don’t need you,
though there are times, I want
you more than others; in those
times, I hate you
because I need too.

Don’t mistake my beating heart
for a victim outside your door,
how v v true. i love how in one simple sentence u get so much meaning and it resonates so much -
henry rollins
do you read henry rollins? this seems to lie in that vein. and i'm thinking that we may be kindred folk. it's this bitter right here that i'm trying to break down, but man o man the armour is strong.
well done well done well done.

awww. i liked this one even in its infinite sadness ... it brings a little honesty to those games people play to try and make it seem nonchalant when really they feel strongly ...

Love the last line! The egg part kinda threw me, but I do like "Those needy eggs". Unrequited love from the loveless point of view, nice job. Good luck and thanks for entering!!

thanks much. the eggs part represents anger, in my mind. Water is gone from the pot, the boiling eggs blow up all over the place. Im dramatic lol. Thanks for the read and contest. Much love and respect.
