Where winds collide
upon the face,
while downwardly descending
into a vale of consuming darkness,
there is a candle to guide
through its suffocating stillness
when doubts reach into one’s mind
as ghosts that stir their fears.
Lighting that glow of vision,
my spirit’s candelabra shining upon the image
of eternity’s refuge
where I shall stand
once this travail of touch is through.
It is the fire I let burn at night
warming while the day cripples,
bringing its heat
during the cold and callous hours
that erode reality from my utopian dreams.
To step back with winged glances
not beset the stare with despair,
but rejoice I know there are stairs
my soul shall ascend
once my date comes
on that reaper’s calendar.
What calm I feel,
the soothing breath of peace
after I stop agonizing over this momentary thorn
and trust in that time of sweet eternal release.
Losing my view at times
in the wake of chaos,
reclaiming it
amid the chants of my inner voice
who always beckons
towards immortality’s realm.

Very well written with visual perspectives, it just made me think of life with it's winds of change actually and how we go about it. Blessings.

Beautiful write and wonderful take on the prompt.
It made me think of how sometimes if people just pay attention in life and keep their eyes open, they can find their way through life. Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest.
