Years ago, I met you
Small child I was then...
In highschool, I got to know you
And fell in love
I think I know why...
My depression had pretty much
Gotten its hold on me
I was done; empty
When I got to know you
I began to feel again
And find myself...
...happy...
So I sent you an electronic letter
Pretty much making it obvious
How I felt about you
So we dated
And I made a lot of mistakes
Cheating... and that kind of stuff...
Felt bad everytime
But never changed
It's who I was
So now I've met somebody new
And because of you and mistakes I have made
I know what love is
And what to do in a relationship
And... what not to do...
It's because of that relationship
That I know what I know
You have given me wisdom
I will always love you
Even though the time to part
Has long passed
Because of what you have done for me
Small child I was then...
In highschool, I got to know you
And fell in love
I think I know why...
My depression had pretty much
Gotten its hold on me
I was done; empty
When I got to know you
I began to feel again
And find myself...

Author notes
option 1 (something that affected my past)
rundown: made a lot of mistakes in a 2 1/2 year relationship that ended a few months ago when I began dating my current boyfriend, whom I love very deeply. Because of the guy in that relationship, I have matured and became who I am today, and I know what not to do in this relationship to do things right.

That is a good story in some ways, kinda sad in others. I guess, those mistakes needed to be made, but... I guess in some ways, it is sad that they had to.
Anyways, I like it.
Do me a favor and put your name in the Author's Notes for me.
Thanks a bunch.

wow
this is an awsome write..short n' simple, to the point, but awsome...a lot of men tend to go through phases like that. they don't really comprehend the way we woman think when they're younger and not too experienced with relationships and such. the title goes well with this piece...how you show from the first line to the last line that you're wising up and you tell your readers how you have come to that point...i think the first two lines could be rephrased a little bit, but still fits the storyline...thank you for sharing and good luck in the contest!!
