A paperclip! A paperclip!
My kingdom for a paperclip
lost 20 pounds, my pants will slip.
I need to find a paperclip.
That little wire, bent just so
The triumph of some engineer.
It loops around, both to and fro
no kind of lock does it fear.
Each secretary keeps ten in their purse
just in case they run out at work.
A stapler, at times, a mechanical curse
rubberbands have their own little quirk.
Post-a-notes post themselves on a wall
but they can't hold five papers together.
They stick anywhere, but hold nothing at all
and cannot stand up to the weather.
A paperclip is like a swiss army knife
it's abilities boggle the mind.
I'm sure it has saved at least one life
and saved millions at work, in a bind.
And about my pants, that have started to slip
and my comments may sound kind of crass.
For if I don't find a paperclip
you will soon be seeing my A$$.
Author notes
And her brilliantly long hair.

I was going to say you could always use the one on the letter writing function, but although it looks good I doubt it would hold up your pants. Good writing, clever and fun

I'm still wondering whose entry mine is similar to, especially since I never read another entry until I submit my own. I hope this isn't what you were insinuating. After reading all the entries, the only similarities I see are the ones we had to follow to stay within the rules. Anyway, I had fun with the subject and I'm glad to see some people win a trophy who haven't gotten one yet.

Oh, this is really a hoot! Well done!! I know I've found dozens of uses for those little wire wonders. LOL! ~~BonnieQ

Ermm, thanks for that imagery. Nice idea, although it does sound a tiny bit like some of the other entries...

This is true...one a 13 hour trip to NC, our car was acting up. In the middle of no where in the darkness of night....my husband found the problem, and asked if I had anything he could manipulate that could hold something secure...ALAS, a PAPER CLIP. It got us the rest of the way, and I carry them every where..lol
this was really good...and good luck.

Very good :)
I love this - especially the last line!!! Work on your ability to rhyme - you definitely have talent! Was this totally random or have you been planning to write about a paperclip? Is it true? I like it anyway and please do read some of my stuff too, although it is very different.
GOOD LUCK in the competition! Good job! beyondfake -
Really deep lol

An interesting ode to the paperclip. I don't usually use paperclips for their intended purpose. They are quite versatile, as they can be folded and unfolded, depending on the task at hand. Decent use of rhyme and meter. Good luck in the contest, and keep writing.
