Watching Emily

I watch intently through the crack
Of my barely-open bedroom door,
To see if little Emily
Has risen from my bedroom floor.
I'm waiting very patiently,
But all that I might ever see
Is her pretty green glass bead eyes,
Just as intently watching me.

Author notes

Emily is the doll given to Sarah Crewe in A Little Princess and her father tells her to watch closely because dolls come alive when their owners are not looking.

This is beautiful! I love that movie and I just watched it a few days ago!

The beat and the rhyme were flawless. It's a wonderful children's poem.

    Keep writing!
