more than just a number
the thief can steal a smile
and show the never-knowing
a series of denials

the ghosts are overpowering
the seeming stealing sweat
and scent the unrepenting
by the trail of decent

the water's in the glass you'll know...
and sip it so, as though to show
that nothing enters without grasp
of someone elses hourglass

I like it. I had to read it several times. First I had no clue what it was about. It seemed very ambiguous to me, but as I read it more I was able to find meaning in it for myself and the ambiguity allowed the space to do that. I appreciate that in a poem. You could have meant something very specific - I not sure.
