Day and night dreamed of the handsome King
Along his conquering path Mical water of his serenity
Between the sword and his chest her heart of hearts
Marrying the man of her dreams in the blue evening
Her love as a weapon pawned in Saul's contempt
A snare as a dowry tokens of his loss and failure
The bride taking risks separated from her only love
From heartbreak to victory wrestling together forever
With the the wind of God into the king's gardens
Fleeing hastily to survive darkness and outlawed
"Saved me out of the mouth of the lion O Jehovah"
Written in heaven no harm to the chosen ruler of Israel
In (another) moonwaiting all the Bible (psalms) her heart sang
The man she love escaped and saved him fearless against her heart
In the grayness of the late night on the roof standing alone
Taking his living heart with him playing his lute and singing
The changing moonlight upon her through the foliage
Wiping the tear upon the end of her veil softly smiling
Raising Michal's hand to her lips "Be at peace, i love you"

Michal whose name means "who is like God" was the younger daughter of Saul. Her father hoped to use her love to get rid of David. Saul betrayed Michal rather than seek the happiness of his daughter. He was utterly insensitive and David was forced outside the law. King Saul used her as a pawn to gain his own ends with politicians. When Saul's plot failed he married the couple. Later when Saul could no longer disguise his hatred of David, Saul openly tried to kill David. Michal helped David escape and saved his life. Her father declared Michal's marriage to the outlawed David over and gave her in marriage to another man. Years later, after Saul's death, and with David about to become king of a united Israel. David demanded Michal be returned to him. This account takes place 1025 B.C..
