Christmas is a time to care
Unless someone asks YOU to share!
For some though, it's a time to hate
While they pile more on THEIR dinner plate!
What if instead we were to try
to see life from another's eye
Give what we can to those in need
Not be consumed with our OWN greed!
To love each other is our task
Sometime we too, may have to ask!
Let's do it now, it's not too late
Merry Christmas in 2008!
How does this poem make you feel? What was your general impression?

Yes christmas is the time to love. And it sucks how usually when family gets together for this holiday they r only thinking of themselves. Thank you for commenting on my poem and thanks for sharing this peice.

You are right. It's become all about greed and not about Jesus, nor about helping those less fortunate. I thank all those who do help out the unfortunate, they do a great service.

thank you for this. where i live there are many who look down on those who need help with gifts in the holiday season. i wish i could give the gifts i wanted to this year, but that is not the point, i feel x mas is about family.

very touching and very true how people become so self involved, blinded by the bright lights and the high street hype, forgetting what really matters

So true, too many people get caught up in the me, me, me of the season and turn a blind eye to those who are actually in need. Great little piece.

A wonderful view on a close subject. This is the time of year that many sneer at the bell ringers as they pile out of the store with their $$$$ worth of toys and such for the family. At one time in my youth, the only gifts we had were from such organizations. I have never forgotten and give what I can.

if only people would see it this way. Things have become way to commercialized. Personally I don't want to see Christmas stuff in the stores till after Thanksgiving, which seemed to go by the way this year as far as what I saw in the stores. priorities have gotten so messed up.
Bless you
Rhonda

Hey Rhonda!
Long time no talk! Glad you liked this poem! I was reading on a message board about someone who needed help this year and the meanness with which people were responding was staggering! I wrote this poem in protest and put it on that message board! Have a great Thanksgiving! -

don't understand why people have to be mean. I've been there I know how it feels to need help, maybe thy never have been there. it's sad, thank you for standing up for them with this poem, maybe some of those who were being mean will rethink what they've said.
