Remember me? The class nerd,
in tenth grade I helped you
with your Algebra assignment.
I sat next to you in the library
and we worked over the problems.
I could smell your hair. When you looked
at me and smiled. Your brown eyes
glistened. Exploding circuits ignited
skin touching skin. Circulated heat.
The next day amongst all your friends
I said hi, you turned and looked away
pretending not to know me. The pain
of watching you hanging on to your
jock boyfriend. Isolated and frozen
to my place, blue eyes turned white.
You walked down the hall laughing,
no remorse uttered from high-lighted
stero pursed lips. Calculated cold.
Today standing amongst geometric
concrete walks, gun in holster, cap
covering shades, shades covering eye
slits. Handcuffs clasped on life-less
wrists. Your saddened gaze looks at
me as you're loaded in the squad
car, busted, meth and who knows
what. Scraggly,raggedly, your brown
eyes turned gray. Remember me
Please tell me what you think

Great
Oh how true. Though never a nerd & always a jock I was fortunate enough to hang with the smarter guys & kept my nose clean. I did see however, much of what you pen so briliantly, in my life.

Tight!
When all has been said amd done... life can turn out like a a funny story. Why is it that most nerds always turn out proper than the class headliners? Good work. -

Charley this is amazing. Was it inspired by a certain someone? I teared up while reading. You are so talented baby. I hope all of your dreams come true.
I love you.

powerful write, Charley. This makes me think of how we like people sometimes, but may not realize who they really are until later on in life. I liked a guy who I realized as time went on that he was a lady's man and I realized that even though I liked the guy a lot, the whole thing was doomed from the start. Makes me wonder what will become of all the players out there later on in life. Thanks for sharing and keep that pen flowing.
