A Prayer for the Forgotten

Dear Lord

You were born into poverty but attended by kings
Teach us that same humility as we celebrate your birthday
Not to remember the famous
Nor even the deeds of the heroic
But the sad, the lonely and the hungry
for they are the true diamonds of the earth
and the real wealth you have given our souls
Somehow many have been abandoned and forgotten
Teach us compassion for the greatest gift is giving
and teach us eternal peace and harmony
True power you have shown us comes from mercy
Please let us not forget this
We invite you into our house and our hearts
through compassion and need for understanding
and let us always remember the forgotten

We pray these word in Jesus precious name
Amen

What a wonderful write you have here, filled with everything that relays the truth of Jesus Christ and the hope that he gave to us in forgiving us of our sins. I thank you for sharing it with me and wish you the best in the contest...

I absolutely love this. You have captured the true Christmas spirit in this poem. "You were born into povery but attended by kings" A perfect line to set the tone of this heartfealt write. "but the sad, the lonely and the hungry for they are the true diamonds of the earth and the real wealth you have given our souls" those are another of my favorite lines in this poem. I can feel your kindness and compassion in this. Good job and good luck in the contest.
