If dreams came true
As children grow in our new world of peace
where there are no more wars for them to fight;
the tension gone, the strife has come to cease
that once was caused when man thought he was right..
A vision now I see of young at work
to make our world the way it used to be
with all employed – not one who wants to shirk
responsibilities to you or me.
Old folks admire the way young people cope;
the world’s a better place for them to live
and now, at last, their lives are filled with hope
as men have learned to foster and forgive.
The land is greener as before the drought;
lush growth, the flowers are brighter than they were
when once, through mans neglect, they’d done without
but now return the way that we prefer..
No fear of danger lurking round each bend
to harm the young who now feel safe once more
and have the chance to live and walk as friends;
to join as one and let their spirits soar.
I’m glad that I have lived to see this day
when countries come together - all as one;
a peaceful world where everyone can play
and safely sleep at night without a gun.
How grand to have this dream fulfil our pledge
and see this world at peace and not on edge.

They say that the next generation will take care of us and the earth. I only hope that after all these wars, the young people will change the axis of negativity and create some positivity in the world. Join hands with the earth's peaceful aura and breath it in, exhale and let it carry on throughout manifest itself to show that peace and love is a much better world than war and murder.
Beautiful poem and wonderful words of sidon.

You've given us a beautiful world to dream of Jenelda. It's sad that our world is as it is today, though... if only...
Your poem is great, too bad it isn't true. Good luck in the contest

Dear Jenelda,
You paint a future scene where all might see
how this sad world we live in ought to be;
where genocide and war, want and hunger are no more
and our children can develope happily.
This world of ours is fresh and green again
as from destroying nature, men refrain,
replacing wanton greed with concern and planting seed
which will feed all those in need on Earth's domain.
Maybe with new advanced technology
this world will, from disease, at last be free
as we learn that greatest wealth is derived from sturdy health
and environment without impurity.
And, finally, if all your dreams come true,
may I then be allowed to live with you?
Applause for a wonderful poem, best of luck in the contest.
Love and hugs, Hugh (R.)

Of course you may dear Hugh, we shall all live together and let the young ones care for us.

Beautiful
This is the world we want and deserve!
What it takes is a little humility on all sides, until "men have learned to foster and forgive."
Well said, Jen, this is the way it should be.

Thank you Margaret, we can only hope.

Ima was thinking about entering a serious poem but after reading this one he'll just enter something silly because this is too good. I think it's maybe the rest thing I've read by you.
It's futuristic in tone, as if it had come to pass, this amazing change, which sadly won't arrive soon. The tone is soft, hopeful, slightly dream-like I think. Yep, Sir Ima will just write a poem about dinner.

Thank you Sir Yem.

So beautifully and hopefully expressed.
Now to get all earth's inhabitants
to think like that, and perhaps
the dream has a chance!

Thank you Aesthete, it would be nice if it could happen.
