Hiding; learning to look for what you can see

She hears their lies day after day
Listens to their problems hoping they will distract her
Once in a while wishing she could say,
SHUT UP LISTEN! MY LIFE IS A BLUR

But she stays silent, stays the good friend
The one who never opens up but is there for you
The loyal one till the end
Who will be there no matter what she must do

But the difference is subtle but there
She’s becoming more of a statue, not quite human
She is slowly turning pale, and her reason she will not share
But she lets its slip, when she utters that one word damn

Her life is falling apart, and it’s not pretty
Her heart is shredded from all the deceit
How her spirit has become gritty
When she at last felt like she was beat

She tries her hardest to make everyone happy
Even when her own happiness has to slip away
And that  personality that used to be scrappy
It made some discontent so it began to stray

You can’t believe what she’s truly like
And the next day she seems back to normality
Waiting for her to shout out SYKE!
But her mask, now is her way to deal with reality

I felt like you could have given a fresh voice to some of the cliches, and that the flow was choppy.

But I think the rhyming was actually well done, with the exception of some parts where it was forced. And I also thought this one had a lot of really personal, raw emotion.

I think the message is not to give up on ourselves.
