The Bottom Line

When your one look
answers a million of my
most pressing questions
you know its time
to unleash some concern;
for who else will with rapt
fraughtless attention
measure up to your plumbline?

When your one touch
lights my skies for days on end
and I begin to have faith again
when should I expect
a hidden shark to dig in
must I with eyes wide shut
out step the coming rut?
Your touch I need, but will it impede?

When with just one of your timely words
spoken ever so softly splinters my world whole
is there any wonder that my grasp is tight
that I shadow you lovingly day and night?
Is there a mystery, my dear innocent sweet?
to why I cling to you with both hands and feet?
Haven't you gotten the gist of this all by now
that this love must last, must stay, somehow.
