If only I could find a lover
to share my time on earth,
I would tell him each day
how much I value his worth.
He would be kind and gentle,
a person of virtue and honesty,
who valued the truth and never
told one single lie to me.
He would have a sense of humor
and laugh at all my silly blunders.
He would know me well enough
to comfort me when it thunders.
To walk amidst the autumn leaves
would be a joy for him and me,
and maybe we would lean and kiss
against a sturdy old oak tree.
Whispers we would share together
as we planned for our happy life.
He would be my dearest husband
and I would be his loving wife.
