In Christmas basket by the door
at rest in tissue, green and red,
lay little presents I adore.
Each one a treasure made of bread
by loving hands once soft and tan,
at rest in tissue, green and red.
Remembering the silver pan
from whence each rose to my delight,
by loving hands once soft and tan.
Their tiny faces smiling bright-
Icing eyes and mouth and noses,
from whence each rose to my delight.
Fluffy collars, ginger poses
gumdrop buttons set with pleasure,
Icing eyes and mouth and noses.
Little men from Gram I treasure
gumdrop buttons set with pleasure.
In Christmas basket by the door
lay little presents I adore.
at rest in tissue, green and red,
lay little presents I adore.
Each one a treasure made of bread
by loving hands once soft and tan,
at rest in tissue, green and red.
Remembering the silver pan
from whence each rose to my delight,
by loving hands once soft and tan.
Their tiny faces smiling bright-
Icing eyes and mouth and noses,
from whence each rose to my delight.
Fluffy collars, ginger poses
gumdrop buttons set with pleasure,
Icing eyes and mouth and noses.
Little men from Gram I treasure
gumdrop buttons set with pleasure.
In Christmas basket by the door
lay little presents I adore.

I loved this one, quite a lot actually

Kerstmis is niet onmiddellijk mijn meest geliefde feestdag - en vooral nu niet omdat ik het de eerste keer zonder partner moest vieren na zoveel jaar, maar ik heb het overleefd
I knew this was a form but just couldn't place it, so glad to see you've put it on the Terzanelle list
Thanks for entering!

A lovely Christmassy posting, the surprises and the simplicity of the gift comes through, great rhyme form and background.

Beautiful!
It is not just that your background and colors are so seasonal and cheerful, the poem itself is deliciously crafted, with wonderful rhymes and great form! I just love the repetition in this form and you have made it all flow so well, with no apparent forcing. Sorry you couldn't have entered the contest -- in my view, this is a winner anyway!

Lovely whiff of homemade goodness and sweetness! You've stirred up delightful memories of Grandmas and their kitchens, the warmth from the oven, and the fragrance of the spices used in making gingerbread! Mmmm

Nostalgic and lovely
I love this! The images of Christmas treats remind me of my late grandmothers, who were both notable cooks. It's uncommon to see the terzanelle form, and delightful the way you have used it.
One grammar note: "whence each had rose to my delight" use "risen", and adjust it a little, perhaps "from whence had risen my delight." Or use "rose" without "had".
This is a happy poem which brings back nice memories, thank you.

Thank you Margaret

I'm pleased you liked this one and it brought happiness today, it did me too while remembering
It's been forever since I wrote one, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. Yeah that line's been plaguing me, thanks for your great imput!
love and blessings,
Sandi
