Crazy thoughts run through my head
magical ideas, temptingly, fleece my mind with dread
of a broken heart, and a forlorness overcomes my being
did I hear that voice? wickedly reminding me, non seeing
of the ultimate sin of greed and avariciousness
of a jewel glittering on the velvet skin of wantonness
"Take it" says the voice within my head
My mind swirls, a hammer pounds and my body feels like lead
I hear another voice say No! do not give in to temptation
it will lead to loathing of oneself and utter degradation
Sleeping peacefully in front of you, this girl has given you her heart
Take what does not belong to you, your life will be thrown apart
It can be a split second when a thought becomes a deed
Which voice are you going to listen to, my friend take heed
One voice or two, you must decide
Our conscience is within our hearts, so let it be your guide
Remember crazy thoughts can ruin one's life
Which in the end, leads to heartache and strife.

Thank you for your entry in my contest. An interesting poem that I found enjoyable to read and I had a mental picture of two little people sitting on your shoulders, whispering in your ears each trying to persuade you, it made me smile but it also had a definite message.
All the best...Sue
