I sit here in tears unable to sleep
Staring into the eyes of a little girl I've never met
I've memorized the contours of her face
The shape of her lips
And the look in her eyes that haunts me
That look says it all
And though she doesn't know me
She's asking for my help
Begging to be brought home
She has waited far too long
And it isn't her fault
Nor is it her Creator's
My heart breaks for the time I've lost
As I vow to do all I can to bring her home
The days go by as I strive and pray
And she sits in a war-torn land
With people who do not love her
I look into the faces of her parents
Waiting to go get her
Longing to hold her in their arms
Loving the daughter they've never touched
And it drives me to my knees
Broken and desperate
Begging for the means
To bring my niece here
Knowing it's not enough until she's home
Staring into the eyes of a little girl I've never met
I've memorized the contours of her face
The shape of her lips
And the look in her eyes that haunts me
That look says it all
And though she doesn't know me
She's asking for my help
Begging to be brought home
She has waited far too long
And it isn't her fault
Nor is it her Creator's
My heart breaks for the time I've lost
As I vow to do all I can to bring her home
The days go by as I strive and pray
And she sits in a war-torn land
With people who do not love her
I look into the faces of her parents
Waiting to go get her
Longing to hold her in their arms
Loving the daughter they've never touched
And it drives me to my knees
Broken and desperate
Begging for the means
To bring my niece here
Knowing it's not enough until she's home

Touching!!
This is amazing piece of work. you put so much emtion into the poem that you can almost picture it... i love this poem becase it tells a story and comes from the heart poems that come from the heart are the best ones and this poem is truely creative and fantastic!! Great job and keep up the excellent work..PS True storys make the poems even better and my favorite lin is the very last one it shows emotion and unfinishe buisness. -
Amazing!!
i love this for so many reasons. one being that i am adopted myself and so love the heart that seeks to protect and love a child that is not theirs. another reason to love it is the heart that comes across in the writing. it is very sweet and sincere. i hope Prodige is w/you all very soon!

this is truely a magnificent piece of work, boundless with a loving feeling together heart broken as well reflecting upon life's fundamental tragic nature. well done, keep writing -
Very emotive - your pain comes through in every line. I've been to the Congo - not a very nice place. The prayers of your AP friends are with you.

I know how you feel Mom. I guess it's not quite the same for me, cuz I don't have any kids so I don't realize what it's like to care that much about your child. But I cry and I pray and I just hope G-d brings her home. This is a very well written piece though ,and it broke my heart.

I like this. It is full of emotion. I feel your desperation to get this girl home. I like this as it has made want to read it more than once. I wanted to know who this girl is and then I got it. This is about the rollar caoster ride of adoption. God speed to this little girl as she travels "home". God bless your family and you.
