Don't remember.
Why bother when
the smiles we share are forced anyway?
A clean slate is what we need.
Someone go get a miracle.
Can't I just say
'get over it'
to make the frown on your face
magically disappear?
Can't I just pretend
for one instant
that you aren't pretending
that I don't exist?
Who's the immature one now?
I'm sorry that I smiled at you.
I'm sorry that I lied to you.
I'm sorry that everything went wrong.
But this is ridiculous.
Forgetting is so easy.
It's too easy.
Should I be getting over you, instead?
Would that make more sense?
I don't remember...

Sometimes saying, get over it, really doesn't
do the trick, even if we want it so badly to work.
I truly enjoyed this bittersweet poem. Thank you
so much for entering.
Love, Lane -
wonderful thoughts flow here. loved the way you presented it.
