First Love

Did you blossom much too young?
or did I find you way too soon?
once upon a simple time
when tender hearts were wrung
with wisdoms wise,
that opened youthful eyes,
lent fever over-run with wild abandon.

First love! how was I to know,
the wonder of desire once woke
its memory would lie deep,
a lovers wound to weep into
this broken heart,
from our summer’s long retreat.

Forever with that season I'm content
tho' wiser man than I perchance might stray
no never will I part with it!  I say.

Please tell me what you think

There's a willingness to fall in love and fully commit oneself in a first love that often can not be recreated ever again after the pain of a first loss. Nice write!! This is the second poem of yours I've read recently (the other got a shiny gold cup ) and I really like your style.

    Good work here

Yes if released into the world too young at heart to fall in love the heart will become bruised before it is fully developed .Sad it is for if the mid and heart are not ready the child rushes into a love unknowing of the dangers and the lies of those just in training of what it is to love

Oh, very nice way with words. That youthful first love, how deep the scars and how they continue to seep. Yes, this oozes those feelings through a reflective look at a time forever lost...alby
