Get Over Yourself; Somebody's Watching

*S L A P*

Slaps and punches..
sounds like these can be heard
    through hollow walls and empty corridors

Fighting...
  yelling and screaming
    somewhere a lamp crashes
        they forget the little girl cowering
          in the closet of her bedroom with her doll

Years later
  what does that little girl know?
        violence...
  what does that little girl do?
          she got over it
            she's better now...
      she doesn't fight with her boyfriend
        over dumb mistakes
              and she never will...

Get over yourself!
    The world doesn't revolve around you
        Somewhere a little girl is cowering
                  Why?  Because you scare her
                but she'll get over it... she will
                      and she'll show you she's better than you
                            and you'll be angry
                      and instead of getting over it
                                      you'll kill her

Author notes

umm... i forgot the title of the contest for a moment and began with the "get over it" prompt, but i ended it with the prompt: tell someone to get over it... at least i think so. maybe not somebody i know, but they'll know who they are if they read this.

I hope this counts as left allign. I think the form behind the freeverse fits my thoughts better than just all on the left. If it bugs you, though, I can fix it.
