They chanced to meet first,
as they stepped out, in opposite directions,
along the coastal walk.
Chance being superseded by resolve,
he then contrived to repeat the meetings
with her on future occasions.
Until that day when, as though ordained,
they both stopped, and then continued
their walk together, hand in hand,
each one in step with the other.
